Dear Parishioners
This week we begin the tea and coffee after Mass at Christ the King. Thanks to all who have offered to help. Please try to call in. It is a good way for us to get to know each other as a community and to strengthen our life as a parish. St Augustine's will start to have refreshments after Mass when we have made a few alterations! This month of May will be a busy one for us. We have the Childrens' First Holy Communion at St Augustines on May 6th and Christ the King on May 13th (Cup Final Day!). We will also have my Induction Mass on Friday 19th May at 7pm. I hope that many of you will be able to come, and we will start to ask for numbers for catering purposes, next week. Bishop Pargeter and a good number of priests will be coming to celebrate the Mass and I would like it to be a great parish evening. The induction Mass reminds us of the partnership between priest and people that is at the heart of a good parish .Please come along if you can. We also begin celebrating a number of weddings in the parish this month. All of these events in May we entrust to Our Lady co patron of our parish. Perhaps in May we could look at saying the Rosary or lighting a candle and saying a prayer at Our Lady's statue.
Our youth group started this week and thanks to all who help with this. The group will meet every fortnight on Tuesday at 6.30pm in the Library at Christ the King. Next meeting May 9th.
The Archbishop has asked me to take on a trainee priest for the next two years. His name is Dominic Coslett and he will come to live and work in the parish in a few weeks time. He will be a great help to me and I know you will make him welcome. He has worked as an Anglican priest but has converted to the Catholic Church and will work in our parish as part of his training. Dominic will be able to tell you about his journey to the Catholic Church when he begins his work with us.
Fr Des Devenney at Holy Family celebrates his 25th anniversary of Priesthood on Tuesday night. I will be attending and we give thanks to God for his service as a priest and wish him many more years of ministry.
Thanks to all who have worked hard to make the library ready for our various parish groups to meet..

God Bless you all with Eastertide Blessings
Fr Tom
