Dear Parishioners
Thanks to all who worked so hard to make our Easter celebrations go so well. There was a wonderful attendance at all the services and the church was beautifully decorated for the feast. Thanks to those who helped with music, flowers serving, cleaning and helped as church ushers and wardens. I would also like to thank you for your generous Easter offerings and the many cards and gifts .Deacons Pat, Gerry and myself all appreciate your kindness to us.
Lent allowed us to make a special effort and we have tried to keep on some of the things people asked for. So there will now be a regular Friday evening Mass for those at work in the day. There will be two periods of Exposition one on Friday morning after Mass and one on Friday evening at 6pm before the Mass. There will also be Rosary and Benediction each Sunday afternoon at 4pm to 5pm.
This week we finished the kitchen in the parish library and it is open for you to have a look at. We would now like to start using it for tea and coffee after Mass and for meetings. If you are willing to help with tea and coffee after the Masses then please let me know or sign up on the lists at the back of church. We hope to have a good number of helpers so that you only have to help every few months or so. Everything needed will be in the room so you just need help with serving and washing up! Men and young adults this is your big chance!
The Archbishop has asked me to take on a trainee priest for the next two years. His name is Dominic Coslett and he will come to live and work in the parish in a few weeks time. He will be a great help to me and I know you will make him welcome. He has worked as an Anglican priest but has converted to the Catholic Church and will work in our parish as part of his training. Dominic will be able to tell you about his journey to the Catholic Church when he begins his work with us.
This week we will be recruiting for the Youth club and helpers will be a the back of church if you want to join. Bishop Pargeter has agreed to come to the parish on Friday May 19th  to Induct me as your Parish Priest at the 7pm Mass. This is the way we are officially appointed although I feel very much at home already. I want to give you advance notice and hope that we can make it a parish celebration. We will have a reception in the Parish Centre after the Mass of Induction.. More details next week. At time of writing we wish Christ the King Football teams well in the two finals they are playing in over the weekend. We pray for a victory in this 60th year of the club. I hope of course for a good result for West Ham too as they play in the FA Cup semifinal! Let's hope I 'm not asking for too much!!!
God Bless you all with Eastertide Blessings
Fr Tom
