Dear Parishioners
I want to wish you all a very
Happy Easter and to thank you all for preparing so well during the
season of
Lent. For me it has been a wonder/ull introduction to the parish and
thank you
for the many ways you have made me welcome and really entered
into the spirit of Lent. I have to say that I feel very happy and
content being
with you .Indeed I think it has been one of
the happiest times in my 23 years as a priest. All the Lenten events
were very
well supported. I was very proud of the huge numbers for the Penance
Service. Myself and all the visiting priests were given a real lift to
see so
many and that some people who had been away from the sacrament of
Confess ion
for many years took the courageous step of coming back.. Thanks to many
of the
young families who came along. This is a wonderful example how as a
parish
community we encourage each other. Sorry that some had a long wait. We
will
look at staggering times next time to avoid long delay but it's a good
problem
to have!. Thanks to those who supported the Service for the Sick on
Palm Sunday
again it was a great success. Thanks to those who helped with transport
and
refreshments. Particular thanks to Deacons Pat and Gerry for their help
with
this and indeed all of the Lenten programme.
Many people have worked very
hard over Lent and Easter to make sure everything went well in both our
churches
and the schools. Without naming individuals I would like us all to
thank
them and appreciate all the good work they do.. We welcome in to the
Church Sally and Rachael Byrne, Russell Phillips,
Peter Johnson and Elizabeth Aldersley who as adults are being received
into the Church and being confirmed over
Easter. Their step of confirmation helps us all to appreciate the gift
of faith
which we often take for granted.
We have some Easter treats for
the children especially our Altars servers who have done so well. For
many of
them it is their first Holy Week as a server. There is a Mass with the
Archbishop on Bank Holiday Monday at 10am at
St. Osburg 's. I will be there and ask that parishioners try to come
along.
Signing on for the Youth group will
take place next week and the group
starts on Tuesday April 25th at 6.30pm. We will also be opening the
parish Library for Tea and Coffee after Masses next week. Thanks to
John Boyle
for making a new plinth for the statue of St.
Margaret Clitherow at the back of church.
1 hope that you enjoy this
holiday season and that the message of New Life that is at the heart of
the
Easter Message will help appreciate the gift of Life and the areas of
all of our lives that need the new life of the Risen Lord.
God Bless you all
A Very Happy and
Joyful Easter
