Dear
Parishioners
Congratulations
to all our children who made their
First Holy Communion this weekend and last at St Augustine's and Christ the King.
They have
been a great credit to parish school and family. Thanks to all who have
helped
prepare them have worked so hard. We can all be renewed in faith by the
simple
and genuine devotion of our children. On Friday evening we will welcome
Bishop
Pargeter and a number of visiting priests to our parish for my
Induction,
Please try to come along to the Mass at 7pm and the reception to
follow; Please
sign up if you haven't already. The induction Mass reminds us of the
partnership between priest and people that is at the heart of a good
parish.
Thanks to the welcome you have given Dominic, he is at Oscott this
weekend as
part of his training and selection. He is very grateful for the welcome
received .After my induction he will start working with me on a census
of the
parish and we will begin some house to house visiting
Our youth
group have produced a display board for the
church porch new members are welcome at any time. With the good weather
coming!
we will be starting some outdoor activities and trips. The group will
meet
every fortnight on Tuesday at 6.30pm in the Library at Christ the King.
Future
meetings 23 May, 6 June, 20 June, 4 July and 18 July. The Tea and
Coffee after
Masses is a great hit and thanks to those on the rota. Rotas are
available this
week and can be altered to suit.
We have
booked the Hall in the parish centre for
Family World Cup events. These are for the first three England
games . We will have a
large screen and food etc so that families can enjoy the games
together. We
will also have a World Cup Challenge game this will involve predicting
the
scores of each of the games in the various rounds. You can enter as a
family ,a
group of friends or individually. We are printing some forms so they
will be
ready in two weeks. Entry is £2 (50p per round) and we will have
a
Ist
prize of £250.and runners up prizes of £100,£50 etc
Any profits to our Youth
work and Cafod.
We are
having a Blessed Sacrament Procession on Sunday
June 25th .after the 12 noon Mass The First Communion Children
in Communion Dress from St Augustine's and Christ the King will lead
the
procession from the Church to the Junior School field for Benediction.
We will
then have a family picnic and games etc on the field. If the weather is
bad we
have a Plan B!
During the
month of May there will be Rosary said 15
mins before each Mass.

PREPARATION COURSES The

SCRIPTURE
SHARING GROUP meets each TUESDAY
in the Library after the 9.15 am Mass, to reflect on the following
Sunday's
readings-Please join us for one hour- all welcome.
YOUTH
MASS ON SUNDAY 21ST.
MAY at 6.00 pm. at Holy Family Church, which will be
hosted by
the pupils of Cardinal Newman School.
This is the first Youth Mass organised by our Three Catholic Senior
Schools in Coventry. Anyone
attending a non catholic school is very welcome to come along.
Following the
Mass there will be refreshments in the Parish Hall.

THE KING FOOTBALL CLUB - GOLF DAY 16th JUNE.
As a part of celebrating their 60th.
Anniversary Christ the King Football Club will be having a Golf Day at
the
Windmill Village Golf & Leisure Club on Friday 16th.
June. The cost is £50. per head includes
coffee/tea and bacon roll for the golfers on arrival, 18 holes of golf,

course dinner, disco and late bar. Additional meal for non golfers will
cost
£25. per person. Numbers for golf are limited so for further

SHRINE
OF OUR LADY OFCOVENTRY The
Rosary is recited at the shrine every Saturday at 8.00 pm. All are
welcome to
join in this devotion.
MERCIA
FRIENDSHIP CLUB, (for the over 50's) meets in the Parish
Centre each Friday at 1.00 pm. Admission 50p. on 19th May No Meeting.
THE
LEGION OF MARY Has been established in our Parish for over 50
years.
Members visit the sick, bereaved, housebound and lapsed. Meetings take
place
every Monday at 7.00pm.
