Dear
Parishioners . We care now in the final stages of Lent and next week we
will be
celebrating Palm Sunday the start of Holy Week. We will have the
traditional reading of the Passion and the blessing of Palms. It maybe
a good
time to think of inviting people back to church I am sure we all know
of at
least one family member, friend or neighbour who may respond to a kind encouragement to come to church
with you over
Easter. To make this task easier we have produced plenty of Easter
Cards. There
are enough for two each. One for your own use but another to give to
someone
else as a way of inviting them back for Easter. You may even want to
post it
through someone's letter box.
We will be
having
a Penance Service with visiting Priests on the Wednesday of Holy Week
Wednesday
(12th April). Start to think about coming to confessions
especially
if it has been a few years. I know that coming back to confession may be difficult but it is worth it.
If you are
worried about what to say I have produced a simple sheet explaining the
way we
come to confession ,1 have also left prayer books and leaflets at the
back of
church for you to look at I hope it is of help and of course
all of the
priests coming to the Penance Service will guide you through. We are having a Service for the Sick
and
Housebound next Sunday, Palm Sunday ( 9th April.) We will anoint the sick of the parish who
would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. Do you know someone
who would
like to come or could you offer to bring someone in your car. Let
myself or
Deacons Pat and Gerry know please. Could all Eucharistic Ministers see
if any
of their sick and housebound would like to come and if they need a lift.
Check out the website www
ctk-cov.org.uk. I also hope to soon
have an email address for myself and the parish. We want to develop
the website and would be grateful for any ideas. We will have links to
the
parish schools, the football
club, and even
the Vatican.! The various groups and societies in the parish will also
be
mentioned The Christ the
King Youth
Group will be starting here in the Library from Tuesday 25th
April
at 6.30pm ~8pm. All welcome from Yr 7 and above. We have forms if you
would like
to come along. After Easter we are also starting up a Youth Cafe
course.
The first
batch of
Parish Mass books have been printed with the names and they look really
good.
They are marked with blue on the spine if you want to look at some. All
the
books have now been donated and we have a waiting list for the next cycle of the missal. When
these come
later in the year we -will give you the opportunity to donate again in memory
of relatives and friends. Thank you for your generous support of this
project.
I think the books are popular and have helped in our prayerful
participation of
the Mass.
God Bless you
all Fr Tom

Suggestion
Box Eucharistic
Ministers
Thanks to all the
Eucharistic Ministers in the parish. You are a great help in
distributing Holy
Communion at Mass but also very importantly bringing communion to the
homes of
the sick. Because I am new to the parish the commissioning of the
Eucharistic Ministers
will take place on the Feast of Corpus
Christa and not on Maundy Thursday. We will also be training some young
adults
as ministers and they will start after Easter. We also hope to have a
Blessed Sacrament Procession on Bablake Fields as part of our Corpus
Christi celebrations. Details to follow.
