The Newman
Association
Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to
the UK to preside
at the beatification of Cardinal John Henry Newman has highlighted
Cardinal
Newman’s role in the Church. Newman’s aim was to encourage the
development of
an educated laity not just in their work or professions but in their
knowledge
and understanding of their faith. The Newman Association undertakes
this role
through “Promoting open discussion and greater understanding in today’s
Church”
The Coventry Circle of the Newman
Association
holds a series of talks at St Thomas More Church on the fourth Tuesday
of the
month (See Church notice board). In addition there
are social and spiritual events during the year plus access to the
national
events such as conferences and pilgrimages.
