60th
Anniversary of Ordination of Pope Benedict XV1 - 29 June 2011
The Bishops of England and Wales received a letter from
Mauro Cardinal Piacenza, Prefect of the Congregation for Clergy im
May. The letter was about the sixtieth anniversary of the priestly
ordination of our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI which was be
celebrated on 29 June. To mark this significant anniversary,
every parish, or religious community was asked to offer sixty
hours of Eucharistic Adoration during the month of June, to focus
on the anniversary of priesthood and also for the sanctification
of clergy. As Cardinal Piacenza wrote in his letter, “in
this way, the Pontiff could be honoured with an extraordinary
spiritual bouquet of prayer and spiritual union”. Archbishop
Longley then asked for support for this in the Ad Clerum in mid
June.
Christ the King, in Coventry, arranged 60 hours Exposition
of the Blessed Sacrament from 7am - 7pm every day from Monday 27th
June to Friday 1st July centring on Wednesday 29th June, the great
feast of the Solemnity of Ss Peter and Paul.
The adoration ended on the feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday,
1st July with vocations to the priesthood being prayed for.
